Sticking It Out

This week my Auntie said to me, i have to take a picture of what Autumn means to me, so we thought and thought about it, you could go for the obvious, above. Where you have the contrasting colours of the fallen leaves, yet with the bright green showing through. You can take this quite literally, so being the great niece i am, i took the photograph for her, i edited it a little, just to enhance the already present natural beauty. But with this i carried on think, what is autumn to me? To me, Autumn is about sticking it out, its not quite hot, yet its not quite cold. Everything in nature around you is starting to suffer, knowing that winter is near. Its about sticking together, and waiting for the storm that we know is just around the corner, yet we never give up. There's the winter and the Christmas time to look forward to, the beginning of a New-Year is in sight, yet its not quite as reachable as one may like. So from this i had the conundrum, how on earth do i photograph this? the answer simply came to me, I may not be able to show the unity in a way that possibly makes everyone think, THAT'S AUTUMN. I photograph what i see that says Autumn, and that is unity, that's my family, taking a picture of all my family would be ridiculous, so, i took a picture of the garden, where i grew up, where we congregate in the summer as a family, where we all play in the snow, where we all have so many memories. Where my family becomes a unit of fun, laughter and joy. That's what Autumn is to me!

New York, New York

This is a personal picture I have taken, I went on holiday to New York and couldn't resist having a go at doing what I only imagined a professional photographer could accomplish, this is a piece of work I am very proud of. I have edited and used selective colour which makes the renowned yellow taxi stand out, the picture is of a high quality, and has the essence of the scene is shown through and through. Also the fact that Form and Depth are present in this photo gives it that extra little sparkle that you can only find in a place that magical!

Good 'Ol Days

This Panoramic shot that I have edited is to create a retro feel on a modern day scene, this is just a to add a feel of irony into the picture, creating the extra dimension that makes a picture stand out from the rest. The new buildings are particularly what shows that the picture is modern day, with the clothes of the bystanders, yet for some reason, the way that the picture looks makes sense. This is one of my pieces that I really like, and I think it really makes my work stand out from others, because nobody else in my classes have tried to do either panoramic or retro looking photographs, that I'm aware of. So the fact that i have had a completely original idea has made me that much more proud off this work

Project Development

As I have finished my work early, I want to improve the work that I have already completed. As I have already done some developmental shoots I have improved the skills that I have had in the studio, so I need not worry about trying to improve these shoots anymore.  I do however want to try something new that might make my project a little different, I would like to try and shoot panoramic landscapes as they show a whole scene in a picture, this means that I could try different things with this, I could have the same person at a different point, and I could just show a whole scene with natural beauty that shows a wider range of things that could look nice. I would also like to develop some skills in Photoshop, this I will do later though as I would like to look at different tutorials that will show me how to create some good final pieces.
